My name is Elizabeth Cortez, I graduated from Berkeley High School last June 2009 and am currently attending Humboldt State University. My intended major is zoology and I am considering a minor in French.

I am currently involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and the Invisible Children Club here at HSU. In addition, I am also in the process of applying to volunteer for the YES House program Art Recreation Theater (A.R.T.). My grandest goal is to one day become a veterinarian. I’m not specifically sure about which area of the field I would like to work in, but I do find the possibility of being able to work with exotic or marine animals quite appealing. During the course of my career, I intend to own my own veterinary hospital.

I plan to incorporate my love for animals and helping people in need by one day gathering with a group of other veterinarians and traveling to rural parts of the world where people still depend on their animals and provide free veterinary services.
