From a very young age, I dreamt of becoming a psychologist. Till this day, my dream of becoming a psychologist has intensified and has even expanded due to my latest interest in applying to law school. I am double majoring in psychology and sociology at UC Berkeley. After graduating from Cal, I plan to apply to law school and ultimately, become an immigration lawyer. I’m not sure where I would like to go, but Boalt Law School is certainly at the top of my list.
During my first semester I lived in theme house program called Casa Mora, which consisted of 32 Latino students. Our purpose was to serve our community and learn about issues that affect our lives as minorities and our community as a whole. I also joined the Cal Women’s Club soccer team, the Latino Pre-Law society group, volunteered with the Berkeley High Women’s soccer team, coached an U-10 Mavericks soccer team, and worked with a non-profit organization called Team-Up For Youth. Needless to say, I was very busy balancing my time with my school, soccer, volunteer work, and my family responsibilities. I finish my first year with a 3.19 GPA.
As a second year at Cal, my hectic life continues. I continued to volunteer for the Berkeley High Women’s soccer team towards the end of my semester and throughout winter break. During the summer, I was recruited to play for the D1 Cal Women’s soccer team. My participation in the Latino Pre-law society continues along with my work at Team-Up For Youth. Unfortunately, I was forced to drop coaching in order to fully dedicate myself to my soccer career at Cal. My GPA is currently a 3.319.
